Artists Statement: This artwork was started by me drawing one object four times at different sizes, then I passed the paper to another student in my class who would draw their object in the same way as I did mine. My paper ended up with four different objects on it in various sizes, and who’s outlines overlapped creating odd shapes. I was tasked with filling in the shapes created by the overlapping lines with white, black, and two shades of gray. While shading in the shapes I tried to avoid filling in two shapes the same color if they were connected. The problem with doing this work is keeping the light and dark grays consistent throughout the drawing as the force used to color in the shapes changed as I moved from shape to shape.
