The chair was a hard still-life to draw do to the precarious perch and constant movement of the sheet but the drawing came out better than many of my previous works. The change in the value shading between the lines on the sheet in the back to the front of the chair is well established creating contrast between the lines. The dragging sheet at the bottom gives the illusion that the chair is floating above the ground and creates movement away from the chair and out to the rest of the image. The White lines added to emphasize the highlights in the ruffles of the sheet as it curves around the chair while the shadows in near the seat area create the look of a sheet curving. The image all together is visually unified though the lines could be darkened some more to increase the contrast between the back and front lines of the sheet.
