Journal 10: Drawing the Biomorphic Animal

(I am unsure what we had to write?)

For my Biomorphic animal I started by creating a quick gesture drawing using a photo of a Pangolin as reference. Hashing out where the legs and tail are, along with the facial features for when finishing outline. After getting the basic form down I next moved on to lightly marking where the many scales would be. Once the scales were down I added the stun-gun outline on the back to figure how they would set on the Pangolin’s back. Then I moved on to darkening the outline on the closer body parts and leaving the farther parts light and fading into the background. Coloring in the scales to pop them of the white background to create contrast between the scales on the head and those on the tail. Using lighter grays for the shadows in the back and darker grey for the closer shadows helps shows depth to the image.
