Artist Statement:

Nox short for Equinox is designed a playful nature spirit similar to a rabbit. The smooth wooden body is contrasted by the fluffy white neck and tail that give Nox a flexible movement. When properly charged the white on the solid body along with the eyes, nose, and stripes will glow a neon green giving Nox an other wordly look acsenting the form even in the dark.

The three dimensional design work used to create Nox allows for and understanding of the change from one form like a solid square into a rounded head. Through the carving of Nox I observed how removing mass from face of the starting form effected the other sides to create the desired form. In the DMA course understanding how to change form is essential as working in three dimensional programs we start out with basic forms that are changed into more complex designs through adding and subtracting mass from the form.
