Project 3: Bone Sculpture

Artist Statement:

For the bone sculpture I went mythical with creating a skeleton for a wyvern, a two legged dragon like creature. As there is no set skeleton for a mythical creature I was able to construct my sculpture as I wished. I did look at the closest creature to a wyvern that had lived, the T-rex for tail and spine reference. This project sent me back to our first project with the use of modular design for the tail bones and neck where the spinal columns  are similar forms.

This project teaches the additive properties of 3D design programs. We started with a thinnish  wire base frame then expanded it with clay that is pushed and formed into the desired form. In 3D Design programs we start with a base shape that we push, pull, and extrude the faces, edges, and vertexes to make the shape into what we wish to create.
